The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution – Review

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution – Review

What catches the attention of The Ordinary products is their cute little glass bottles. I have been seeing them go around for quite a while now. And one product that really caught my eye was – AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. Though the percentage of acid looks scary, I had already tried my hands on Mandelic Acid [ Kbeauty Step 3 – Toning : Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water by Wishtrend Review! ] and I was happy with the way my skin reacted to it. And honestly I was also intrigued by the hype this product had created. So I decided to give it a try. Now that I have finished one bottle and the other one has arrived I thought this was the right time to give you some honest reviews about it.

Product Description – AHA 30% BHA 2% peeling solution – 10 minute exfoliation facial, pH – 3.6

Visibly targets textural irregularities. Lackluster tone. Blemishes.

Price – 12.30 USD for 30ml – which sums up to approximately 790 INR, but I haven’t found any seller selling it for this price. I got it for 1100/- from SkinBlissSkin and this is a decent price compared to the availability of this product in India and the sites selling them.

How To Use – This should ideally be used in the evening, not more than twice a week. Wash your thoroughly and wait for your skin to dry completely. It is not to be used on wet skin.  Apply evenly across face and neck using finger tips, avoid the eye contour and contact with eyes and DO NOT LEAVE ON FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES.

What is it? – This is a chemical exfoliant. While AHA is supposed to brighten your skin and diminish fine lines with continuous use, BHA will clear pores and fight blemishes.

Caution – The product contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid(AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards. Use only as directed. Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or direction. ** This product should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Please refer to additional sun protection note and other warnings in the pack.

Fragrance – It has a smell that feels like a wine that has gone bad, but not offensive or intolerable.

My Observation

  • This is a viscous, slightly sticky acid peel with glycolic, lactic, tartaric, citric acids (AHAs) and Salicylic Acid(BHA).
  • The sticky liquid has the texture of reduced wine that’s been sitting and dried out a bit.
  • It gives a strong tingling and prickling sensation on application.
  • This product is meant to sit on your skin for maximum 10 minutes.
  • It is also not to be used on wet skin. Face should be completely dry before application
  • I use this product twice a month. After every use I wash my face thoroughly with luke warm water and follow a minimal skin routine.

My Verdict

Honestly I was a little skeptical about this product. I have a weird skin… at times it’s absolutely fine and suddenly, everything I use gives me pimples! I was scared how this product would react. But after finishing one full bottle, I can say I am happy with the effect on my skin. The first two to three uses I did not see any miraculous result, but definitely my face was lighter, smoother and softer. Gradually after finishing one whole bottle I see my dark spots have lightened and there is a healthy glow.

When I still use it I do have a tingling sensation which is not very bad or intolerable. I take a small amount and apply evenly on my face and neck and wash it off in 8 to 10 minutes. The exfoliant leaves your face feeling fresh and bright and after a few month’s use my skin’s texture has also improved. So, for me I will stick to using this product once a week as it has worked good for my skin.

Is It worth buying? – I have already bought the second bottle! The first one lasted me for six months.

I did read a lot of negative reviews of the product too. The fact that, this is an acid, it all depends on how your skin will take this product. My skin is a little tilted towards being sensitive and it did nothing bad to my skin … So I would recommend you can give it a try!

That’s all for today…

Till next time. Keep Glowing!

xoxo
