Kbeauty Step 3 – Toning : Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water by Wishtrend Review!

Kbeauty Step 3 – Toning : Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water by Wishtrend Review!

Let’s start with the importance of toners by taking up simple questions which I asked my dermatologists 🙂

  • Is a toner really necessary? What is the function of a toner?

Toners are most helpful and necessary for people with oily or acne-prone skin, or for people who want extra cleansing after wearing makeup or other heavy skin products such as sunscreen. So basically all of us need a toner! Just to point out a few benefits or functions of a toner —

  1. It shrinks pores.
  2. It stores your skin’s pH balance.
  3. It adds a layer of protection.
  4. It moisturizes.
  5. It refreshes the skin.
  6. It prevents in-growth of hairs

So with all these benefits, skin toner can be that one pocket friendly and magic product in your skin care routine.

  • When should be use toner?

It’s the first thing to use after cleansing you face, so that it prepares your skin for the rest of the products you are going to put after that.

  • How to choose the right toner for your skin.

Honestly I go by the easy method. I have a normal to combination skin and my skin is also prone to allergies. So I prefer picking up toners that are water based and alcohol free. It was only recently that a fellow blogger suggested I use Mandelic acid toner(which I am reviewing) that I shifted from my very basic and super effective and pocket friendly toners.

Just to make your work easy here is a list of ingredients you can look while you are buying a toner :-

Good Ingredients for a Toner

  • antioxidants
  • soothing ingredients
  • skin-replenishing ingredients
  • hyaluronic acid
  • ceramides
  • glycerin
  • panthenol
  • sea whip
  • willow-herb

Ingredients to Avoid

  • SD or denatured alcohol
  • menthol
  • witch hazel
  • fragrance
  • skin-aggravating ingredients

My Kbeauty routine

Like most of you out there, even I underestimated the use of toners for a clear beautiful skin. I never took the use of toners seriously because I did not know they played such an important part for the health of our skin. It was only when I started researching about Korean beauty regime that I found out how much importance Korean women put on their toners.

Step 3 : Toners

A few kbeauty experts even suggested applying your toner in a pat massage manner for seven times! I have however stuck to applying once after my two-step cleansing and my go to toners have been ‘Himalaya clarifying toner‘ and ‘Gulab jal(Rose water)‘.

But only recently when I went for a haul of Korean products I bought a different toner that was highly recommended by a fellow blogger. A little out of my budget but so far the results have been amazing.

Appearance –  By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water is packaged in a UV-sensitive bottle. Whenever I see a product packaged in a brown bottle like a beer, I know immediately that I should store it in a cool dry place away from the sunlight. And yes, this product should be stored like that. It may not win the best packaging award compared to other Korean Beauty brands, but it doesn’t look nor feel cheap. It’s really sturdy, plus I like that they put a little effort in the box.

My Verdict

I discovered that this mild exfoliator doesn’t irritate the skin at all, but yet it makes the skin feel softer and smooth. It was gentle, no scent and no sting …  But I was doubtful if it will really improve anything in the long run. However it’s been a while and I have found the results impressive on the skin. It did lighten a few dark spots and a few tiny pimples disappeared after I started using this.

At the moment this is the only toner I am using.

– Pros –

It’s a gentle yet an effective exfoliator that also enhances the effectiveness of the products in your skin care routine. It also has a moisturizing effect so your skin will not end up dry, and it also has an anti-bacterial effect to combat the acne.

– Cons –

I haven’t come across any yet. But the price for me doesn’t look pocket friendly.

Will I rebuy?

May be I would if it works amazingly well. However, if I find any mandelic acid toner for a little cheaper price I might even shift to that.

But definitely recommended!!
