Morning Skincare Routine For a Glowing Skin! – Kbeauty

While almost everyone knows the fact that we need to take our make-up off before we go to bed and use a good night cream, our morning skin care routine is often… lacking. while night time skin care aims to address skin issues before the regenerative process of sleep begins, but daytime skincare is all about protection and preservation. You can’t create a youthful complexion later on, you can only maintain the one you have now. So lets just get rid of our love for the ‘snooze’ button and get on with a better morning routine not just for skin but for our body too!

Let me tell u I am a super lazy person and I totally not a morning person.. I hate mornings in fact ! 😛 And I relate to you when you roll those eyes saying ‘oh common… isn’t it enough I get up and slather some SPF and run for work with the coffee’?! The answer is no! There must be something in the old saying ‘early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise’. So lets all of us put in some effort to this better lifestyle as we grow in age.

Okay now getting to skin routine — While getting up in the morning and exercising is a chore for me, the other steps i really follow religiously.

Step 1 – Hydrate

The best thing you can do to you skin and body is wake up and have a glass of warm water with lemon and honey and NOT coffee! Or if you are too lazy to warm the water just hydrate yourself with two glasses of normal water. Getting enough water is vital for your overall health, and dehydration especially shows up in your skin with dullness, dryness and breakouts.

Step 2 – Cleanse

Cleansing has three steps… Yeah I know sounds like “WHAT?!” But yes.. it has three steps in the morning and its super simple and easy —

  • Wash your face with normal water.
  • Exfoliate with a cleansing wipe , and your cleansing wipe is not wet enough just dab in some cleansing milk into it so that it’s just the right kind of moist and not dripping then rub it in small circles on your face, starting from your nose and working out towards your temples, forehead and chin. Not only will this slough off any dead skin cells, the massaging action will also help to get rid of any morning facial swelling.
  • Now use a gentle foam cleanser and wash your face with it and pat dry with a clean towel.

Trust me this just takes a minute.

Step 3 – Toning

Toner is easily the most misunderstood skin care product and way more important than it receives credit for. Toner is the first barrier product you apply – good toner balances your skin’s PH, and is intended to hydrate. So use a good toner! It’s still cold and dry at my place so this toner of mine works amazing for me and keeps my skin super hydrated.

Step 4 – Essence

I follow this step in both my morning and night routine because I just love the feel of my skin after applying essence. My essence is gel based and I love how quickly it gets absorbed to my skin leaving it supple and smooth. But you can avoid this step if you don’t have an essence and don’t wish to invest on it either.

Step – 5 – Serum/Ampoule

The most important (and expensive) step in your morning skin care routine – aside from sun protection. Your face is up against a lot of agents that wish to do it harm throughout the day: exhaust fumes from the city bus, your dirty phone screen, etc. Serums see to it that none of those stress creators live eternally as fine lines between your eyebrows. So it’s totally worth investing on a good serum. I myself on the other hand is into ampoules for the moment… but a serum and a ampoule has different effect on your skin. So till my new serum comes( next month my serum arrives <3 ) I shall use this and later serum will be added to the routine.

Step 6 – Face Oil

My place is extremely dry and cold and this step works best for my kinda climate or if you have a dry skin. If you are residing in a humid area and you have oily skin this step is to be avoided.

Step 7 – Emulsion

Lighter than a lotion or a cream and concentrated than a serum, an emulsion is a light weight facial lotion. If you have oily or combination skin, emulsions might be the perfect product for you, as their formulas can hydrate and moisturize the complexion and allow the skin to breathe at the same time.

Step 8 – Moisturizer/Cream

A light moisturizer is essentially for daytime use. Not only does it make your skin look dewy and gorgeous under your makeup, it also keeps it from drying out throughout the day. Apply your moisturizer by smoothing it across your face, neck and chest, taking care to pat it (never rubbing) around the delicate skin of your eyes.

Step 9 – Sun Protection (Most important step)

Never, ever skip sunscreen—even if it’s overcast or if you’ll be inside most of the day. Even a little sun damage today can lead to wrinkles, sunspots, a dull complexion and potential melanoma in the future, so a sunscreen is a must!! And it’s not just face, you can apply sunscreen on every exposed area.

Look for a product with an SPF of at least 15; anything 30 and above. And if you use a traditional cream or spray-on sunscreen, apply it the way you would a serum: spray or squirt some of the product into the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, then gently press the sunscreen onto your face and neck.

If you had time for only one skin care product each morning, it better be sunscreen. Daily sun protection is as important as drinking water, so there are zero excuses for not doing it.

And lastly don’t forget to hydrate your lips before you apply your lipstick or lip tint. I even apply sunscreen on my lips.
